NOTE: If you are updating from I2ODRV1.exe, you will need to remove BKSTROSM.NLM and SCSIOSM.NLM from the NWSERVER directory, and remove their respective LOAD statements from the server's STARTUP.NCF file before installing this release. The name of these files has changed to have a *.HAM file extension.
The OSM binaries in this release will run on NetWare 4.11/4.2 with support pack 7 or later and on NetWare 5 with support pack 3A or later. Novell recommends that you install the latest support pack for your target OS version before installing this package. The latest support packs can be found by going to http://www.support.novell.com and searching for "support pack".
Be aware that the installation program will modify your STARTUP.NCF file if
the appropriate I2O LOAD statements do not already exist.
Perform the following steps to install the OSMs:
1. After installing NetWare and the latest support pack, go to http://www.support.novell.com. Click on the File Finder function located just under the page's banner. Enter "i2o" in the function's dialog box, and then click on the "Find" button. This procedure will take you to the download page for the latest I2O driver kit. Download the kit, which is a self-extracting executable (.EXE), to a floppy diskette.
2. Invoke the executable, which will extract its contents to the floppy diskette.
3. Place the diskette in the destination server's floppy drive and load either INSTALL.NLM (NetWare 4.11/4.2) or NWCONFIG.NLM (NetWare 5.x).
4. Select "Product Options" from the "Installation Options" menu.
5. Select "Install a product not listed" from the "Other Installation Actions" menu.
6. You will be promted for a source directory. Accept the default, A:.
7. Select the components you wish to install. Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to set the cursor and use the Space Bar to make your selections. Your component options will be BKSTROSM.HAM (I2O Block Storage Class Driver) and SCSIOSM.HAM (I2O SCSI Peripheral Class Driver).
8. Press "F10" to accept your selections, and the installation will get underway. Follow any additional instructions presented by the installation screens.
9. Once installation is complete, DOWN, EXIT, and restart the server to load the OSM drivers.
