abstract

This file contains documentation and two server nlms designed for troubleshooting high utilization issues for Novell NetWare 4.1x and Novell NetWare Small Business product lines.

installation

ISSUE:

This file contains troubleshooting steps for resolving high utilization problems with NetWare 4.1x servers. There are three files included within the contents of highutl1.exe:

1. Highevy.exe

This file is a runtime executable of the Envoy viewer. It contains the high utilization document within it. It is 22 pages long and can be printed from any Windows 95/98 or Windows NT 4 workstation.

2. Highutl1.txt

This text file contains the same information as the abstract, issue, and installation instruction sections.

3. Wrkthd.exe

This self-extracting file contains two NLMs and instructions on how to enable the pre-allocation of file service processes on NetWare 4.10 and NetWare 4.11 file servers. Both are contained within directories separate for each server. These files are referenced within the high utilization document in step #10. For further information or complete instructions on how, where, and why to use these files, consult the high utilization document.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

To use the high utilization document, download the file to a separate directory on your hard drive. Execute the file highutl1.exe to extract the 3 files inside (highevy.exe, highutl1.txt, and wrkthd.exe).

The file highevy.exe is a runtime executable of the Envoy version 7 viewer. It was designed to work with Windows 95 or better (i.e., Win98, and WinNT 4). Simply execute the file and Envoy will launch and automatically load the high utilization document into its program window. Controls should be obvious to navigate the document, and printing is available if desired.

The file wrkthd.exe is a self-extracting file that will create two directories and one readme.txt file. The directories each contain a separate server NLM. Consult the readme.txt file, or the high utilization document (step #10) for instructions on how to use the NLMs.

The information contained within this document is summarized within TID 2916430. This TID is only a summary; the bulk of the troubleshooting information is in this file, not the TID.
