Section 1 Installing ODIWAN1.EXE
______________________________________________________________________
Note: This update is for those who have a requirement to update their
server with the ODI 3.31/1.11 update kit and the server also has
NIAS V4.0 or MPR V3.1 installed. It is not necessary to apply this
update unless you have installed the ODI 3.31 update kit (ODI33x.EXE).
Note: This update is not supported on NWC V2.0 or MPR V3.0. The install
will check for these versions and not install the update.
To install ODIWAN1 on a local server, complete these steps:
1. Install ODI33E.EXE or later.
ODI_KIT (not ODIKIT) must be listed under the Currently Installed Products
(load INSTALL > Product Options > View installed products).
ODI_KIT (not ODIKIT) indicates that the ODI 3.31/1.11 support files have been
applied with ODI33E.EXE or later.
2. Backup the files on your server that are included in this update.
They are listed below.
3. Explode the file ODIWAN1 into an empty directory on the server.
(To explode the file, type ODIWAN1.EXE <Enter>.)
NOTE: If a floppy disk is going to be created for this install, then copy
the files in the directory ODIWAN onto one floppy and label it
ODIWAN with the DOS label command.
4. At the server console prompt, type LOAD INSTALL <Enter>.
5. Select Product Options, and then select View/Configure/Remove installed
products. A new window will display the NetWare products currently installed
on your server.
6. Press <Ins> to install ODIWAN1
A new window will display a prompt with drive A: as the default.
7. Point INSTALL to the path containing the ODIWAN directory.
For example, SYS:\PATCHES\ODIWAN
If you are installing from floppy, then the floppy must be labeled ODIWAN
(with the DOS label command); otherwise, the install will ask to continue to
insert the disk.
8. Press <Enter>
The "Installation Options" menu will appear after a few moments.
9. The selection "Install Product" will be highlighted; press <Enter>.
10. Select the local server, then select Yes to start the installation.
The following message will appear when all files have been installed:
"Installation was successful. Bring down and restart each server on
which you installed to ensure that it uses the newest NLM files.
<Press ENTER to continue>"
11. Press <Enter>
The "Installation Options" menu will reappear.
12. Press <Esc>
13. Select "Yes".
The "Currently Installed Products" window will reappear, showing the
software you just installed.
14. Press <Esc> to return to the "Installation Options" menu.
15. Press <Esc> again.
16. Exit INSTALL.
When you load INSTALL and select Product Options >
View/Configure/Remove installed products, the following product
will be listed:
ODI_WAN V1.00 ODI WAN update to support ODI 3.31 spec

Section 2 Issues and Tips
______________________________________________________________________
1. The ODI 3.31 update (ODI33x.EXE) may have been applied to a server
before any WAN related products, like NetWare Connect V2.0 (NWC),
MultiProtocol Router V3.1 (MPR), or NIAS 4.0, were installed. However,
if NWC, MPR, or NIAS is installed at a later time (after the ODI33x.EXE)
the following may be reported when PPPTSM loads:
PPPTSM 21: MSM major/minor version mismatch. Module initialization failed.
Explanation: The version information provided by MSM is not the version
expected by PPPTSM.
ODI33x.EXE will update the MSM.NLM to Version 3.54, which is based on the
3.31 ODI spec.
Action:
If NetWare Connect V2.0 or MPR V3.0 is installed, then the solution is to
manually apply LANDR9.exe and use the MSM and LAN Drivers written to
the ODI 3.30 spec. NWC V2.0 and MPR V3.0 are not supported with the
ODI 3.31 spec.
If MPR V3.1 or NIAS V4.0 is installed, then the solution is to apply this
update, ODIWAN1.EXE. If you installed ODI33D.EXE, then you need to
install ODI33E.EXE; see step 1 above.
2. Support Pack 3 does not contain this ODI WAN update.
3. The WAN TSMs in NIAS V4.1.0 will support the ODI 3.31 spec. Do not
install ODIWAN1.EXE on a NIAS V4.1.0 system. However, if you do, the
ODIWAN1 install will not overwrite the NLMs installed by NIAS V4.1.0 because
the NLM versions are newer in NIAS V4.1.0; therefore, installing ODIWAN1.EXE
on a NIAS V4.1.0 system has no effect.
