Specifying a TCP/IP Frame Type During Installation
==================================================
Step 7 of the client installation procedure prompts you to select a driver for your network board. If you already have a driver loaded to memory, the installation program automatically detects the driver. If you do not have a driver loaded to memory, the installation program displays a list of network boards.
After selecting or confirming the correct network board, you must also ensure that you specified a frame type that is compatible with TCP/IP.
To select or confirm the frame type, complete the following steps before you exit the client installation form:
1. Highlight the network driver listed under Step 5 of the installation form and press <Enter>.
2. Press <Enter> to select the specified driver from the list.
3. If the specified frame type is TCP/IP compatible, use <Esc> to exit to the main installation form. If the specified frame type is not TCP/IP compatible, select the frame type field.
4. Select a TCP/IP compatible driver from the list; for example, for an Ethernet network, select ETHERNET_II.
5. After selecting the appropriate frame type, use <Esc> to exit to the main installation form.

Upgrading the NetWare DOS Requester (VLM)
=========================================
Before installing a newer version of the NetWare DOS Requester, you should make backup copies of your STARTNET.BAT and NET.CFG files, which are located in the C:\NWCLIENT directory by default. After you install the new VLMs, you can then restore the STARTNET.BAT and NET.CFG files using these backup files. If you do not backup these files, you can still restore them using the STARTNET.BNW and NET.BNW files, which are created by the NetWare/IP Client installation program.

Installing LAN WorkPlace Over NetWare/IP
========================================
If you install the LAN WorkPlace 4.2 or earlier software after installing the NetWare/IP client software, be sure to complete the following tasks:
1. Check the AUTOEXEC.BAT file to ensure that the STARTNET.BAT line is not commented out.
2. In the AUTOEXEC.BAT file, comment out the CALL LANWP.BAT line.
3. Merge the contents of the LANWP.BAT file with the STARTNET.BAT file.
Note: If the TCP/IP software on the LAN WorkPlace diskettes is newer than the TCP/IP software on the workstation, the LAN WorkPlace installation program will automatically install the newer version.

Installing NetWare/IP Over LAN WorkPlace
========================================
If you install the NetWare/IP client software on a workstation that already contains the LAN WorkPlace 4.2 or earlier product, be sure to merge the contents of your existing LANWP.BAT file with the STARTNET.BAT file that the NetWare/IP installation creates.
Note: If your existing LAN WorkPlace contains newer TCP/IP software than the NetWare/IP client software, the NetWare/IP installation program will ask you whether it should overwrite the existing software. You should select "NO" so that the newer TCP/IP software is maintained on your system.

Using the Nearest Server Parameter
==================================
If your NetWare/IP network contains both 1.1 and 2.x servers, use the following guidelines when adding values for the Nearest Server parameter on your client workstations:
- To specify a NetWare/IP 2.x server in the client's nearest server listing, you can use the server's IP address, hostname, or subnetwork address.
- To specify a NetWare/IP 1.1 server in the client's nearest server listing, use the server's subnetwork address.

Default Client Configuration
============================
By default, the client will use the NetWare/IP configuration as found in the NWIP.CFG on disk WSDOS_1. A sample file named NWIPCFG is shipped on disk WSDOS_1.
