The DirXML Driver for Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) provides a generic solution for synchronizing data between eDirectory and JDBC-accessible relational databases.
The DirXML Driver for JDBC requires the following:
The driver runs on all DirXML-enabled platforms, including Windows* NT/2000, NetWare®, Solaris*, and Linux*. The driver has been tested using the following databases and third-party drivers. If you want to use other databases or third-party drivers than those listed below, refer to the Implementation Guide (JDBC_Imple_Guide.pdf located at the root of the download directory) for more information.
The driver uses the JDBC API to execute SQL statements and obtain metadata from a database. As such, a database must be JDBC-accessible. The following databases have been tested and are recommended for use with this product:
The following drivers have been tested and are recommended for use with the DirXML Driver for JDBC:
Note: The Oracle 8i 8.1.7 JDBC driver will not work with Oracle 9i. For Oracle 9i, you should you should use the 9.0.1 or later JDBC driver for use with JDK 1.x (classes111.zip or classes111.jar). These files are included on the Oracle 9i installation CDs. They are not available for separate download via Oracle's website as of this release.
Complete the following instructions to download the driver.
For installation instructions, refer to the JDBC Implementation Guide.
After you install the driver, you must activate it. Unless activated, the driver will expire after 90 days. (You must also have DirXML 1.1 activated for the driver to work after 90 days.) For complete information on activating the driver, refer to the JDBC Implementation Guide. For complete information on activating DirXML 1.1, refer to the DirXML Administration Guide, located at http://www.novell.com/documentation/lg/dirxml11 or in the DOCUMENTATION directory on the DirXML product CD.
