This article describes how to use File Transfer Protocol (FTP) to download
Internet Explorer.

To use FTP to download Internet Explorer from Microsoft, follow these
steps:

1. Double-click My Computer on the desktop.

2. Double-click Dial-Up Networking.

3. Double-click the MSN or the The Microsoft Network icon.

4. In the User Name box, type "MSN/<MemberID>" (without quotation marks),
   where <MemberID> is your member identification for MSN.

5. In the Password box, type your MSN password, and then click Connect.

6. After you are connected to MSN, click Start, point to Programs, and
   then click MS-DOS Prompt.

7. At the command prompt, type the following commands, pressing ENTER
   after each command:

      md c:\download
      cd c:\download
      ftp ftp.microsoft.com

8. When you are prompted "User:," type "anonymous" (without quotation
   marks), and then press ENTER.

9. When you are prompted "Password:," type your MSN e-mail address (for
   example, Member_ID@msn.com), and then press ENTER.

10. Type "bin" (without quotation marks), and then press ENTER.

11. Type "get softlib\mslfiles\msie302.exe" (without quotation marks),
   and then press ENTER.

12. After the download is finished, type "quit" (without quotation marks),
   and then press ENTER.

13. Type "exit" (without quotation marks), and then press ENTER.
