To cancel your account while you are online, follow the appropriate steps for your version of MSN: MSN 2.0 ------- 1. Click the "Question Mark" located in the upper-right corner of MSN Program Viewer. 2. Click Check Or Change Your Account. 3. Click Membership. 4. Click Cancel Account. MSN 2.5 ------- 1. Your Member ID is the only means of identifying your account, therefore, you must create a new account in order to obtain a new Member ID. To create a new account, follow these steps: 1. On the Start menu, click Run. 2. In the Open box, type "signup.exe" (without quotation marks). 3. Follow the instructions on the screen. 4. Enter your credit card information. 5. Select your new member ID and password. Once you have verified that your new account is working properly, you must cancel your old account (make sure that you sign on using the account you want to close). 5. Q. Can I set up two different member IDs for the same account? A. This is not currently possible. We are currently looking into a number of billing options, so we may have this ability in the future. You can create two accounts and use both from the same computer. All you need to do is type the appropriate Member ID and password for the account you want to use. Remember that each account is billed separately. 6. Q. What should I do if I forget my password? A. If you forget your password, follow the appropriate steps for your version of MSN. MSN 2.0 ------- The only option available at this time is to contact MSN Customer Service at (800) 386-5550, and request a new password from a Customer Service Representative. MSN 2.5 ------- Click the New button next to the Password box on the MSN Sign-In screen, and then follow the instructions on the screen to receive a new temporary password. NOTE: During this process, you are prompted to enter your credit card number to verify your MSN account. After you sign in to MSN using the temporary password, follow these steps to create a new permanent password: 1. Click the MSN Quick View icon on the taskbar, point to Member Services, and then click Check Or Change Your Account. 2. Click Change Password. 3. Basic Service Connection Time is the number of minutes spent online. 2. Base MSN Subscription is your monthly base charge for your subscription plan. 3. Monthly Connection Allowance is a credit appearing on your account for the free online hours associated with the standard subscription plan. 4. Premium Connect Time Credit is any credit manually applied to your account (not associated with your subscription plan). 5. Payment - Thank You is the amount forwarded to your credit card company for payment to The Microsoft Network. 11. Q. Why Did I Receive a Message Stating That My Password Is Not Valid When I Tried to Sign Back in After Changing My MSN Password? A. If you sign out of MSN, The Microsoft Network, after changing your password and then attempt to sign back in using your new password, you may receive a message stating that your password is not valid. Your new password does not take effect immediately. In most cases, password changes do take effect within a minute or two, but longer delays are possible. Wait a few minutes and then sign in to MSN or you can use your old password to get in right away.
