SUMMARY
=======

You can set the number of minutes The Microsoft Network can be idle before
it is automatically disconnected from your computer. You can set this
disconnect time either from MSN Central by clicking Options on the View
menu, or by using the right mouse button to click The Internet icon on the
desktop and then clicking Properties on the menu that appears.

The Auto Disconnect value set in Internet Explorer always overwrites the
disconnect time set from MSN Central, unless an MSN Classic (1.x) screen is
open. This happens regardless of whether you are using a phone number for
The Microsoft Network only or for the Internet and The Microsoft Network.
The disconnect time set in MSN Central only overwrites the time set in
Internet Explorer when you are using a phone number for the Internet and
The Microsoft Network.

In Internet Explorer, you can set the disconnect time from 3 to 59 minutes.
If you set a time less than 3 minutes, you do not receive an error message,
but the disconnect time is automatically set to 59 minutes.

From MSN Central, you can set the disconnect time from 1 to 59 minutes. If
you use a phone number for The Microsoft Network only, this setting is
implemented. However if you use a phone number for the Internet and The
Microsoft Network, the effective lower limit is 3 minutes, and settings of
1 or 2 minutes are treated as if they were a setting of 3 minutes.
