This article was previously published under Q96188

SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Windows 3.1 will generate a "Divide by zero" error message if you run Works 2.0 for Windows in form view in the Database module and the default printer is set to the Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet Series driver version 2.0 or 2.1.

RESOLUTION

If you have:
  • Windows 3.1, and the DeskJet 500 or earlier:

Update the driver to HP DeskJet (model) v.1.1 driver and Universal Printer Driver version 3.1.x or later (provided with Windows).

  • Windows 3.1, and the DeskJet 500C or 550C:

Update the driver to HP DeskJet printer driver version 3.0 (contact HP).

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Works version 2.0 for Windows and the HP DeskJet Series printer drivers versions 2.0 and 2.1. This problem was corrected in Works version 2.0a.
