SUMMARY

On page 354 of the "Works for Windows User's Guide," there is an error in the description of how to insert a page break between each group in a sorted report. The error is in the example for step 1.

The correct procedure is as follows:

  1. Make sure that there is a blank Summ <fieldname> row below the one containing summary information.

To add an additional Summ <fieldname> row above the currently selected row, choose Insert Row/Column from the Edit menu, select the appropriate Summ <fieldname> row for the type, and choose the OK button.
  2. Select the last <Summ fieldname> row.
  3. From the Edit menu, choose Insert Page Break.
Note: This method will cause an additional blank page or a page with only headings to print with the report.

MORE INFORMATION

If you follow the procedure as outlined in the user's guide, it is possible to insert the page break between the Summ <fieldname> row and the Summary row. If this happens, the report will not break on sorted groups.

Works 4.0, 4.5, and 4.5a for Windows 95

In Works 4.0, 4.5, and 4.5a for Windows 95, creating a report is done differently. To create a page break between groups in the report, follow the directions below:

  1. From the Tools menu select Report Creator
  2. Add the Fields you want to be in the report in the Fields Tab
  3. In the Sorting tab, select the field you want sorted.
  4. In the Grouping tab, Select When Contents Change and Start each group on a new page.
  5. In the Summary tab, Select the Field you want to show the type of summary you want and the At end of each group.
  6. Select Done.
