WD: Word Changes Hairlines to 1 Point Lines When Editing Graphic (93052)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh 5.0
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh 5.1
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh 6.0
- Microsoft Word for the Macintosh 6.0.1
- Microsoft Word 98 Macintosh Edition
This article was previously published under Q93052 SYMPTOMS
If you edit a non-PostScript graphic using the Picture command in Word
for the Macintosh, the Picture command changes all lines that are less
than 1 point (such as hairlines) to 1 point.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the Picture command does not support line
widths less than 1 point.
MORE INFORMATION
For example, if you paste a graphic image from MacDraw II or MacDraw
Pro in a Word document, hairline or .5 point width lines appear
correctly. If you then edit the graphic in Word by double-clicking the
image, Word changes the hairline and .5-point width lines to 1 point
lines.
If you created your graphic image in a program that embeds PostScript code
in the graphic (such Adobe Illustrator or Aldus FreeHand), Word retains
lines less than 1 point wide when you edit the image using the Picture
command.
