SYMPTOMS

When you try to select a single curved lined or a single curved arrow in a SmartArt shape in a 2007 Microsoft Office program, additional shapes appear to be selected.

CAUSE

This occurs when the SmartArt shapes are based on a cycle diagram. The curved lines and curved arrows use the Circular Arrow and Block Arc shapes. Because these shapes can be adjusted to a complete circle, their selection area equals the diameter of the circle. Therefore, when you select a curved lined or a curved arrow, the selection frame includes the other arrows or arcs that are the same distance from the center of the circle as the shape that you selected.
