OWA message body if contains "+ number" (ex:+2 , +3 )gets replaced with a square (924220)

SYMPTOMS

If the message body in OWA contains '+' symbol with number (ex: +2 +3), will get replaced with square when seen by the recipient in OWA.

The square is also seen in the sent items of the sender

Environment : Exchange 2000 SP3 with rollups / Windows 2000 SP4

CAUSE

The problem is due to Exchange 2000 hotfix 894689 with store.exe build no 6.0.6617.47.

RESOLUTION

"+" symbol followed by any number in the message body gets changed to square in OWA

Ex:
In OWA
2+2 appears as 2 square sign
2+3 appears as 2 square sign
2+4 appears as 2 square sign

Message sent from OWA and the recipient access it in OWA.It is the same behavior Message sent from OWA and the recipient access it in Outlook.The content of the message body is properly displayed Message sent from Outlook and the recipient access it in OWA.It is the same behavior

KB 906865 updates the files of KB 894689. KB 894689 got Store.exe build 6.0.6617.95

Applied the hotfix 906865 and the issue got resolved
