SYMPTOMS

When you use a mouse to double-click a video file that is digitally protected by using Microsoft Windows Media digital rights management (DRM) in Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, the video may not play. Additionally, Media Center may stop responding.

RESOLUTION

Prevent the problem

To prevent the problem, click the video one time only to play the video. The problem occurs occasionally when you double-click video files that are digitally protected by DRM.

Resolve the problem after it occurs

To resolve the problem after it occurs, use one of the following methods:
  • Restart the computer.
  • Manually end the Ehshell.exe process. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to start Windows Task Manager.
    2. On the Processes tab, click the Ehshell.exe process.

      Note The Image Name column in Windows Task Manager lists the Ehshell.exe process.
    3. After you highlight the Ehshell.exe process, click End Process.
    4. Restart Media Center.
