The Desktop tab does not appear in the Display Properties dialog box in Windows XP (922370)

- The value of the ClassicShell entry in the following registry subkey is not 0:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer
RESOLUTIONWarning Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly by using Registry Editor or by using another method. These problems might require that you reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that these problems can be solved. Modify the registry at your own risk. To resolve this problem, modify the value of the ClassicShell entry to 0. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, click Run, type Regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click the following subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer - In the right pane, double-click ClassicShell, type 0 in the Value data box, and then click OK.
- Exit Registry Editor.
