INTRODUCTION

Microsoft has released a white paper that explains how IT administrators can apply security best practices to Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) 2002 Service Pack 1a (SP1a) environments. It includes sections on the following topics:
  • MCMS security fundamentals
  • Securing MCMS 2002 environments
  • Advanced security information such as port numbers, minimum NTFS file system settings, and registry permissions
  • Script samples
  • Links to additional information
This advanced-level white paper assumes that you are familiar with the fundamentals of MCMS, the Active Directory directory service, and Microsoft Windows Server 2003. An included batch script sets NTFS File System and registry permissions to the recommended minimum permissions on servers that are running MCMS 2002 SP1a.
