INTRODUCTION

This article describes the Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 issue that is fixed in the hotfix package that is dated July 29, 2006.

Issue that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • Consider the following scenario:
    • You link a Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services calendar to Outlook 2003.
    • You view the Outlook calendar in Outlook 2003.
    • You click to select the Windows SharePoint Services calendar check box under Other calendars in the Calendar pane.
    • You locate an event that is linked to a meeting workspace in the Windows SharePoint Services calendar.
    • You drag that event to the same date in the Outlook calendar.
    • You open the new event in Outlook. Then, you perform the following actions:
      1. You click Invite Attendees, and then click Meeting Workspace.
      2. In the Meeting Workspace pane, you click Change settings, click Link to an existing workspace, and then select the meeting workspace to which the Windows SharePoint Services event is linked.
      3. You click OK, and then click Link.
    In this scenario, you receive the following error message:
    Your attempt to create a meeting workspace or link to an existing one can't be completed. The operation failed.

  • The full-file version of this hotfix is also the administrative version of this hotfix. You can install this version of the hotfix on a computer that is running Office 2003 with Service Pack 2 or Office 2003 with Service Pack 1. However, we have tested this hotfix more extensively on Office 2003 with Service Pack 2 than on Office 2003 with Service Pack 1. If you install this hotfix on a computer that is running Office 2003 with Service Pack 1, some file conflicts might occur. We support this configuration, but we do not recommend it.

You do not have to restart your computer after you apply this hotfix.
