The MSPROPTAG_FS_Extensibility media status notification is not sent after you install Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 Update Rollup 2 (918985)

SYMPTOMS

When you browse inside a Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 session, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 sends media status notifications. For example, these notifications include MSPROPTAG_FS_HOME, MSPROPTAG_Volume, and MSPROPTAG_FS_Music.

After you install Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 Update Rollup 2, the MSPROPTAG_FS_Extensibility notification is not sent when you select the Online Spotlight program or you run any other hosted HTML applications. However, the MSPROPTAG_FS_Extensibility notification is sent in versions of Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 that have not had Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 Update Rollup 2 applied.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the notification feature has been removed in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 Update Rollup 2.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
