Error message on a Windows XP SP2-based wireless client computer that is joined to a Windows Server 2003 SP1-based domain controller: "At least one of your changes was not applied successfully to the wireless configuration" (918450)

SYMPTOMSConsider the following scenario: - A Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)-based wireless client computer is joined to a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1)-based domain controller.
- You click to clear the Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings check box on the Wireless Networks tab of the wireless client computer.
In this scenario, you receive an error message on the wireless client computer that resembles the following: At least one of your changes was not applied successfully to the wireless configuration. You receive this error message even though you have installed the hotfix that is mentioned in the following Knowledge Base article: 892087 "At least one of your changes was not applied successfully to the wireless configuration" message when you try to add a wireless network to a Windows XP Professional-based computer
CAUSEThis issue occurs if there is an empty entry in the wireless network policy of the domain controller. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, delete the default new wireless network policy entry on the domain controller. To do this, follow these steps: - Click Start, click Run, type gpedit.msc, and then click OK.
- In the left pane, expand Computer Configuration.
- Expand Windows Settings, expand Security Settings, and then click Wireless Network (IEEE 802.11) Policies.
- In the right pane, right-click New Wireless Network Policy, and then click Delete.
