You may receive an error message when you try to open a Groove archive file in a Groove workspace (917224)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to open a Groove Tool Archive (.gta) file or a Groove Space Archive (.gsa) file in Groove Workspace 2.x, you receive the following error message:

The parameter is incorrect

When you try to open a Groove Tool Archive (.gta) file or a Groove Space Archive (.gsa) file in Groove Virtual Office 3.x, you receive one of the following error messages:

Error message1

Unable to restore tool. The parameter is incorrect

Error message 2

Unable to restore tool. E_UNEXPECTED.

When you try to open a .gta file, the tool archive does not open. When you try to open a .gsa file, the workspace archive opens, but it does not contain all the expected tools.

CAUSE

The error messages that contain "The parameter is incorrect" wording indicate that the Groove Tool Archive (.gta) file is corrupted or that the Groove Space Archive (.gsa) file points to a corrupted or missing tool template. The "Unable to restore tool. E_UNEXPECTED" wording indicates that the archive or template was created in a later version of Groove Virtual Office.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, try to find another workspace member or tool user who has the data. Direct this workspace member to create a new archive file for you. Then, you can add the Groove tool to the workspace by using this new archive file.

MORE INFORMATION

You cannot make a corrupted archive file usable. We recommend that you test archive files before you delete non-reproducible data.
