INTRODUCTION

This article describes how Groove Virtual Office and Groove Workspace calculate the size that is listed in the properties of a workspace.

MORE INFORMATION

Groove calculates the size of a workspace by adding together the on-disk sizes of the database that is associated with that workspace and all the files in the binary file store that are referenced by that database. The binary file store keeps a running sum of the sizes of the files that are referenced by each workspace. Therefore, the binary file store can provide this value quickly.

Note When items are removed from a workspace, the reported size of the workspace will not decrease until that change has been transmitted to all members of the shared workspace. For example, this behavior occurs when a file is deleted in the Groove Files tool. This transmission of data can take a long time in workspaces that have many members.
