INTRODUCTION

This article describes how to optimize audio performance for voice chats and conferencing in Groove Virtual Office or in Groove Workspace.

MORE INFORMATION

To optimize audio performance in Groove, use one or more of the following methods:
  • Upgrade to the current version of Groove. Audio performance was significantly improved in Groove Virtual Office 3.0.
  • Run the Audio Tuning Wizard. To do this, click the arrow at the bottom of the chat pane in any workspace. Then, click Audio Tuning Wizard.
  • Confirm that you have sufficient resources. Voice transmission in Groove uses Digital Signal Processing (DSP) TrueSpeech compression over Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). The TrueSpeech codec yields a stream of about 8 kilobytes per second. Depending on the network details of the recipients, Groove may have to duplicate this stream for each recipient of the audio transmission.
