INTRODUCTION

This article describes the options in the Replace Workspace dialog box in Groove Virtual Office and in Groove Workspace.

MORE INFORMATION

If you change the local copy of a workspace when it is unsynchronized and when your membership is suspended, Groove may display the Replace Workspace dialog box when you are reinvited to the workspace. The Replace Workspace dialog box contains the following options for replacing the existing workspace:
  • Create a backup copy of the original workspace on this computer, replace the original on this computer, and delete the original from my other computers, if any exist

Use this option if you are confident that any copies of the workspace that you may have on other computers do not contain additional data that you want to keep.
  • Replace the original workspace on this computer without creating a backup copy, and make no changes on my other computers, if any exist

Use this option if all the following conditions are true:
    • You have multiple computers.
    • You want the workspace on this computer to become synchronized with the workspaces of other members.
    • You want to leave other, possibly unsynchronized, versions of the space unchanged on other computers.
For example, you may have continued to change your copy of the workspace after your membership became suspended. Leaving an unsynchronized version of the workspace on other computers lets you review and possibly reimport these changes on those computers. Replacing the copy of the workspace on the local computer lets you immediately resume sharing information with other members.
  • Do nothing and discard the replacement workspace

You may unintentionally receive two invitations to the same workspace. The invitations may be sent by different members. In this situation, discard the second invitation. Although there is no harm when you accept both invitations, discarding the second invitation spares the computer system and network resources the task of receiving and processing the workspace data again.
