FIX: The synchronization process may take a long time when you synchronize merge replication publications in SQL Server 2000 (914439)

Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2000 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2000 fix release.

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft SQL Server 2000, the synchronization process may take a long time when you synchronize merge replication publications. You may experience this problem if you have created many generations of the publication since the last time that you synchronized the merge replications.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. MORE INFORMATION

After you apply this hotfix, the sp_MSsetupnotbelongs procedure runs parameterized queries by using the sp_executesql command. This command makes SQL Server reuse cached plans more efficiently. Therefore, by using the sp_executesql command, you can reduce the compile time for the overall workload.
