Important notes for using Microsoft Update
- When you use Microsoft Update to install SQL Server 2005 SP1, the installation will be unattended, unless components are clustered. If components are clustered, you must follow the prompts to complete the installation.
- Microsoft Update will upgrade all instances of SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2005 SP1. For example, if you have two instances of SQL Server 2005 running on your computer, both instances will be upgraded to SQL Server 2005 SP1.
- If you are running SQL Server 2005 on a beta edition of Microsoft Windows Vista, use the download center link to upgrade to SQL Server 2005 SP1. If you try to upgrade to SQL Server 2005 SP1 by using Microsoft Update, you may experience an error that says the certificate is invalid.
SQL Server 2005 Express Edition SP1 is not available from Microsoft Update.
