You cannot add a digital ID to an outgoing message in Outlook Web Access (911972)

SYMPTOMSWhen you try to add a digital ID to an outgoing message in Microsoft Outlook Web Access by using a smart card device, you cannot add the digital ID. However, when you use Microsoft Outlook, you can successfully add a digital ID by using the same smart card device.
Note A digital ID is also known as a certificate.CAUSEBy default, Outlook Web Access queries the following path for the smart card information: \\.\SmartcardReader\container However, in some cases, the smart card information is contained in the following path: \\.\SmartcardReader\container\subcontainer\ In this situation, Outlook Web Access cannot locate some of the smart-card-related functions because Outlook Web Access does not query the full path. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Exchange Server 2003 service pack that contains this hotfix. To resolve this problem immediately, contact Microsoft Product Support Services to obtain the hotfix.
