Xbox 360: You receive a "Failed" result for the Computer phase of the Test Media Connection test (911744)

SYMPTOMS

When you run the Test Media Connection wizard, you receive a "Failed" result for the Computer phase of the test.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because you have not successfully connected the Xbox 360 console to a Microsoft Windows XP-based computer that is running Windows Media Connect.

THINGS TO TRY

  1. In the Media section of the Xbox Dashboard, select either Music or Pictures, and then select Computer. This initiates a connection with the Windows XP-based computer.

MORE INFORMATION

Unless there is a connectivity issue that causes the test to fail, the Test Media Connection test will report a result of "Passed" for the Computer phase of the test after you establish a successful connection.
