SYMPTOMS

A Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2003 R2-based computer may stop responding when you dismount a volume that has both Single Instance Storage (SIS) and quotas enabled.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you enable both SIS and quotas on the same volume. In this case, a deadlock that is caused by interoperability issues occurs, and the computer stops responding.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, do not enable both SIS and quotas on the same volume.
