Some Program Guide channel names may be truncated in Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 (911245)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005

SYMPTOMS

When you view the Program Guide in Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, you may not see the full channel identification. Some channel names may be truncated.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the channel identification name uses more than eight characters. This problem occurs because Media Center currently supports the use of only eight characters in the channel identification column of the Program Guide. Any channel information after the eighth character does not appear. For example, if Station XYZ lists their broadcast channel as ABCDEFGHI, the following information appears the Program Guide:

ABCDEFGH

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
