FIX: Values that are received in unmanaged code may not be correct when managed code in a C++ application calls unmanaged code and passes values, the values received in the unmanaged code may not be correct in the .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 (911205)

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. A C++ application is running on the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 (SP1). In the C++ application, managed code calls unmanaged code and passes values. In this scenario, the values that are received in the unmanaged code may be incorrect.

CAUSE

This problem may occur when managed code returns a 6-byte structure.

Note You do not experience this problem when managed code returns an 8-byte or 10-byte structure.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 service pack that contains this hotfix.
