SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. Your computer runs either Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) or Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1). You use the Registration Wizard to register either Windows XP SP2 or Windows Server 2003 SP1 online. In this scenario, you cannot complete the online registration. You receive an error message that is similar to the following error message: There is no dial tone. Make sure your phone line is properly connected to the
modem. CAUSEThis issue occurs because of a problem in the Registration Wizard (Regwiz.exe). RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, use one of the following methods. You are using an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) version of WindowsFor information about how to resolve this problem, contact the OEM who provided the version of Windows that you are using. You are not using an OEM version of WindowsFor information about product registration, visit the following Microsoft Web site: STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
