SYMPTOMS

When you try to consume a Web service from the Microsoft Device Emulator in Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, the consumption fails.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because there is no network connectivity on the Device Emulator.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Cradle the Device Emulator

To cradle the Device Emulator, follow these steps:
  1. In Visual Studio 2005, click Tools, and then click Device Emulator Manager.
  2. Select the Device Emulator that is currently active, click Actions, and then click Cradle.

Method 2: Install the Virtual Machine Network Driver for the Device Emulator
