Xbox 360: The Xbox 360 Memory Unit is not listed as a storage device (906943)

SYMPTOMS

The Xbox 360 Memory Unit is not listed as a storage device in the Xbox 360 console.

CAUSE

This issue may occur when one or both of the following conditions is true:
  • The memory unit is not correctly connected to the memory unit slot on the Xbox 360 console.
  • The memory unit or the memory unit slot is damaged.

THINGS TO TRY

  1. Make sure that the memory unit is fully inserted into the memory unit slot on the front of the console.
  2. Insert the memory unit into the other memory unit slot to make sure that the slot is not problematic.
  3. If you have a second memory unit available, try to use the second unit to determine whether the original memory unit is damaged.
Notes
  • Memory units that are physically broken, immersed in liquids, or exposed to intense heat may be damaged.
  • A damaged memory unit may not appear in the Xbox Dashboard.
  • A damaged memory unit could damage your Xbox 360 console.
