SYMPTOMS

You change the size of the virtual machine window in Microsoft Virtual PC 2004 by dragging the edge of the window. After you do this, the guest operating system screen resolution is unexpectedly reset. This problem occurs when you have configured the Virtual machine window resizing options setting to Use guest operating system screen resolution.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Virtual PC 2004 ignores the Virtual machine window resizing options setting.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Virtual PC service pack that contains this hotfix.
