The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003, Standard Edition
- Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003, Premium Edition
SYMPTOMSWhen you try to synchronize a mobile device with a server that
is running Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 (Windows SBS), you
receive the following error message on the mobile device:
Synchronization failed due to an error on the server. Try
again. Error code: HTTP_500 CAUSEThis problem occurs if you installed Microsoft CRM on the
Windows SBS server without configuring the Microsoft CRM server Web site to use
a host header. When the mobile device tries to synchronize Microsoft Server
Active Sync (MSAS),
the synchronization request is redirected
to a specific Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) virtual directory.
This request is answered by Microsoft CRM. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this problem, follow these steps:
- On the Windows SBS server, click Start,
point to All Programs, point to Administrative
Tools, and then click Internet Services
Manager.
- In the Internet Services Manager management console, expand
the server that is running IIS and that contains the Web site that you want to
modify.
- Expand Web Sites, right-click
Microsoft CRM Version 1.2 Web, and then click
Properties.
- On the Web Site tab, click
Advanced.
- Click Add, and then follow
these steps:
- In
the IP address
box, change
the
setting from All Unassigned to the IP
address of the server.
- Set
the TCP port
to 80.
- In
the Host Header box, type
a name as
the alias for Microsoft CRM access.
For example, type mycrmserver.
- Click OK.
