SYMPTOMS
After you turn on parental controls for DVDs in Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, you may receive the following error message when you try to play a rated DVD movie:
Program Blocked
This program is not rated. To watch the program, press OK on the remote, and then enter your access code.
The error occurs even though the DVD movie is rated on the box or on the cover of the DVD movie, and the rating is lower than the rating that you selected on the Movie/DVD Ratings page. CAUSEThis problem may occur if the following conditions are true:
- You select the Turn on movie blocking option on the Movie/DVD Ratings page.
- You select the Block unrated movies option on the Movie/DVD Ratings page.
- The rating is not encoded on the DVD.
Media Center uses the rating that is encoded on the DVD to enforce parental control rules. When Media Center cannot find a rating on the DVD, Media Center assumes that the DVD is unrated, and you receive the message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section. WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, press the OK button on the remote, and then enter the parental control access code. After you enter the code, the movie plays.STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
