SYMPTOMS

When you try to install or uninstall the Microsoft Shared Computer Toolkit for Windows XP, you may receive one of the following error messages:

Installation aborted.
This uninstall requires Windows Scripting. Review the following Knowledge Base article to learn how to repair or reinstall Windows Scripting.
Uninstall aborted.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the Windows Scripting Engine is missing or damaged.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regsvr32 %windir%\system32\vbscript.dll, and then click OK.

    This command repairs the Windows Scripting Engine.
  2. If the problem still occurs, reinstall the Windows Scripting Engine. For more information, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
