INTRODUCTION

This article describes the results that you can expect when you merge financial accounts in Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting 2006.

MORE INFORMATION

In Small Business Accounting 2006, you may decide that two accounts in the Chart of Account pane are similar and that you prefer to see the combined information on one line in your financial reports. To do this, you can merge the two records into one record.

For example, if you merge a record for Financial Account 1 into the record for Financial Account 2, you receive the following results:
  • Financial Account 1 is removed from the Chart of Accounts pane.
  • All the financial history for Financial Account 1 is available in the Account Register window for Financial Account 2.
  • When you view the transaction details for transactions that were originally in Financial Account 1, the name of the account is listed as Financial Account 2.
Note After you merge two financial accounts, you cannot separate the accounts.

For more information about how to merge financial accounts, see the "Merge Financial Accounts dialog box: options and information" topic in Small Business Accounting 2006 Help.
