The Message Tracking Center does not return the correct results in Exchange 2000 Server when the Message Tracking logs files include e-mail messages that have specific subjects in the Subject box (904773)

SYMPTOMS

Assume a situation where you use the Message Tracking Center on the Exchange System Manager console in Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server to query for e-mail messages that arrived between 14:00 and 23:00.

In this situation, the Message Tracking Center does not return the correct results when the following conditions are true in the Message Tracking logs:
  • The e-mail messages have one of the following specific subjects in the Subject box:
    • ISO-8859-1?Q??=
    • =?GB2312?B??=
  • The e-mail messages arrived during the time period that you designated in the query conditions.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server service pack that contains this hotfix.
