SYMPTOMS
Consider the following scenario. You install the hotfix that
is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article to fix memory
leaks that you are experiencing in Microsoft Exchange Server 2003:
891509 A memory leak condition occurs when you create a CDO program or a MAPI32 program to log on or log off many mailboxes in Exchange Server 2003 S891509
The memory leaks that you are experiencing are
caused by one of the following programs:
- A custom MAPI
program
- A Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) program
After you install the hotfix, you may notice that the memory
leaks have decreased. However, in this scenario, memory leaks still continue to
occur when your custom program repeatedly calls the
LoadLibrary and
FreeLibrary functions to load and unload the Mapi32.dll file.
Note You can use the Performance snap-in to view the memory leaks in
the Private Bytes counter of the program that is experiencing the memory
leaks.
