FIX: A computer that uses the IP-DLC link service to communicate with an IBM mainframe may experience an access violation in snaipdlc!nrt_rtp_status_check_gaps function on Host Integration Server 2004 (898555)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004

SYMPTOMS

A computer that is running Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004 and that uses the IP-DLC link service to communicate with an IBM mainframe may experience an access violation in snaipdlc!nrt_rtp_status_check_gaps function.

When this problem occurs, the IP-DLC link service unexpectedly quits. Therefore, all connected users lose their existing host sessions if the host sessions were established over host connections or peer connections by using the IP-DLC link service.

Additionally, event messages that are similar to the following are logged: Event ID: 1000
Source: Application Error
Description: Faulting application snalink.exe, version version number, faulting module snaipdlc.dll, version version number, fault address memory address
Event ID: 624
Source: SNA Server
Description: Creating dump file C:\Program Files\Microsoft Host Integration Server\traces\snadump.log for snalink.exe

CAUSE

The access violation occurs when the IP-DLC Link service receives duplicate empty High Performance Routing (HPR) Network Layer Packets (NLP) packets. The problem is likely to occur on a network that drops or delays packets when the packets travel between Host Integration Server 2004 and the Network Node Server (NNS).
