You cannot establish network connectivity to a virtual machine in Virtual Server 2005 after you disable and then re-enable the network adaptor on the host computer (897753)

RESOLUTION

Method 1: Restart the Virtual Server service

1. Start the Virtual Server Administration Website tool. To do this, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Virtual Server, and then click Virtual Server Administration Website.
2. Under Virtual Machines, point to Configure, and then click the virtual machine for which you want to save the state.
3. Next to the thumbnail image of the virtual machine, click Save State.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to save the state of all other virtual machines that are running.
5. Restart the Virtual Server service. To do this, follow these steps:
   1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.
   2. In the Name list, right-click Virtual Server, and then click Restart.
   3. Quit the Services Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in.
6. Restore the virtual machines from their saved states. To do this, follow these steps:
   1. In the Virtual Server Administration Website tool, under Virtual Machines, point to Configure, and then click a virtual machine that you want to restore from its saved state.
   2. Click the thumbnail image of the virtual machine to restore the virtual machine from its saved state.
   3. When Running appears next to Virtual machine status, restore another virtual machine from its saved state. Repeat this process for all the virtual machines that you want to restore from their saved states.

Method 2: Disable and then re-enable the connection to the virtual network

1. Start the Virtual Server Administration Website tool. To do this, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Virtual Server, and then click Virtual Server Administration Website.
2. Under Virtual Networks, point to Configure, and then click the virtual network to which your virtual machine is connected.
3. Click Network Settings.
4. Click to clear the Connected check box that corresponds to the virtual network adaptor in the virtual machine with which you experience this issue, and then click OK.
   
   Note If you have more than one running virtual machine connected to this network, click to clear the Connected check boxes that correspond to the virtual network adaptors in those virtual machines. You do not have to click to clear the Connected check boxes that correspond to virtual network adaptors of virtual machines that are not running.
5. Click Network Settings.
6. Click to select the Connected check box that you cleared in step 4, and then click OK.
