Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting appears to stop responding when you try to import more than 10,000 records (897021)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to import more than 10,000 records into Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting, you may notice that Small Business Accounting appears to stop responding. Additionally, Microsoft Windows Task Manager may also show that the program is not responding.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, wait for the import operation to be completed. The import operation may take ten minutes or longer to be completed. Although the program appears not to be responding, the import operation will be completed if you let the process continue.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.

Steps to reproduce the problem

  1. Create a data file that contains more than 10,000 records that you want to import into Small Business Accounting.
  2. On the File menu in Small Business Accounting, point to Utilities, and then click Import.
  3. Click Browse to locate the file that you created in step 1, and then click Open to import the file.
