You receive a "The Macros in this file do not match the digital signature" error message when you open a file that was saved from a signed template in Excel 2003 (896715)

SYMPTOMSWhen you open a workbook that was saved from a signed template in Microsoft Office Excel 2003, the workbook opens and you receive the following error message: The Macros in this file do not match the digital signature. Only a macro virus would cause this. Please Scan for viruses, and notify the publisher of the document. Macros will be disabled. CAUSEThis problem may occur when you follow these steps: - You open a signed template that contains Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macros.
- You save the file as a new "File name."
- You open the new file.
After you save the file as a new "File name," the digital signature has been invalidated. However, the digital signature has not been completely removed from the new file. WORKAROUNDThere is no workaround or resolution for this problem.STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
