You receive an "Hours worked per day cannot exceed 24" error message when you save a time entry in Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting (896699)

SYMPTOMS

When you save a time entry in Microsoft Office Small Business Accounting, you receive the following error message:
Please set Duration to a positive time of less than or equal to 24 hours.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the total number of hours that you entered for one employee for one day is greater than 24.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, change the hours in the time entry so that the total of the existing time entries is greater than 0 and less than or equal to 24.

To view the total existing hours for the employee, follow these steps:
  1. On the Employees menu, click New Timesheet.
  2. In the Timesheet window, select the employee in the Employee name box.
  3. In the Select week box, enter the date of the time entry.

    The time sheet grid displays the total time that is entered for the employee for every date that you select.
  4. Note the total time that is already entered for this employee for the day that you select. Make sure the total number of hours is less than 24 hours.
