Some buttons on the Media Center remote control stop functioning after you install the IntelliType software version 4.11 or earlier (896472)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition, some buttons on the Media Center remote stop functioning after you install Microsoft IntelliType version 4.11 or earlier. These buttons include the BACK, STOP, MUTE and SKIP buttons. However, other buttons may also be affected.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because early versions of IntelliType prevent some buttons from accessing shared functions.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, use Windows Update to upgrade IntelliType to version 5.0 or a later version. You can also visit the following Microsoft Web site to download the latest version of IntelliType:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
