You receive the "You cannot be logged on because your security settings in IE do not allow per session cookies" error message when you try to log on to Project Server 2003 PWA or to Project Server 2002 PWA (896452)



The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Office Project Server 2003
  • Microsoft Project Server 2002

SYMPTOMS

When you try to log on to Microsoft Office Project Server 2003 or to Microsoft Project Server 2002 by using Microsoft Project Web Access (PWA), you receive the following error message:
You cannot be logged on because your security settings in IE do not allow per session cookies. Enable per session cookies and try to log on again. (5011).

CAUSE

This issue may occur when one of the following conditions is true:
  • In Project Server 2003, the virtual directory name contains an underscore.
  • In Project Server 2002, the physical server name contains an underscore.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, follow the steps in this section for your version of Project Server.

Microsoft Office Project Server 2003

Use the Site Editor tool (EditSite.exe) to re-create the virtual directory without the underscore.

  • Rename the physical server name without the underscore, and then reinstall Project Server 2002.
  • Install Project Server 2002 to a server that does not contain the underscore in the server name.
