The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005
SYMPTOMSYou cannot use the Create CD/DVD feature in Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 to create a slide show on a DVD or to create a video DVD. The computer may stop responding, or you may receive an error message that is similar to the following error message:
Low Disk Space
CAUSE
This issue may occur if there is insufficient free space on your computer's hard disk drive to complete the operation. When you create a DVD, the process may require up to 6 gigabytes (GB) of free space on the hard disk drive for creating temporary files. If this space is not available, the operation may fail, and you may experience the behavior that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, make sure that there is 6 GB of free space available on your hard disk drive before you use the Create CD/DVD feature to create a DVD.
To determine how much space is available on your hard disk drive, click Start, click My Computer, and then point to the appropriate hard disk drive. The total disk capacity and the amount of free space will appear as a tool tip.
To free space on your hard disk drive, use the Disk Cleanup tool. Disk Cleanup searches your hard disk drive and lists all the temporary files, the Internet cache files, and the unnecessary program files that you can safely delete. You can direct Disk Cleanup to delete some or all of those files. To open Disk Cleanup, click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Disk Cleanup.
