SYMPTOMS

The first time that you connect a device that contains media files to your computer, the media files on the device are not automatically played. A universal serial bus (USB) hard disk or a USB flash memory device are examples of a device that can contain media files. This symptom occurs after you install Microsoft Windows Media Player 10. However, this symptom does not occur again if you disconnect and then reconnect the device that contains the media files.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, disconnect the device that contains the media files, and then reconnect the device.
