This article describes the Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 issue that is fixed in the SharePoint Portal Server 2003 post-Service Pack 1 hotfix package that is dated March 14, 2005.

Issue that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • Documents or list items that contain a phrase that has the word "für" in it are not returned in the search results in SharePoint Portal Server 2003

    Consider the following scenario. You search the portal site for documents or for list items that contain a phrase that has the word "für" in it. To do this, you run a query that uses the CONTAINS predicate. The following is an example of a query that uses the CONTAINS predicate:

    SELECT "DAV:href", "DAV:displayname" from ( TABLE Portal_Content..Scope() UNION ALL TABLE Non_Portal_Content..Scope() ) where (CONTAINS(*,'"StringThatContainsTheWordFür "',1031) )

    Note In this example, StringThatContainsTheWordFür is the phrase that has the word "für" in it.

    When you run this query, documents or list items that contain the word "für" in the particular phrase that you specified in the query are not returned in the search results.
